What is Life Share?
It's really very simple. Through your sponsorship with the American Red Cross Life Share program, you are giving your employees, students, or community residents the opportunity to donate blood. You are empowering them to do their "fair share" and ultimately helping save the lives of family members, friends and fellow community members. Furthermore, Life Share provides you the opportunity for community involvement and recognition when you achieve Platinum, Gold or Silver status based on your participation rate as a Life Share sponsor with the American Red Cross.

What is Leadership for Life Share?
Leadership for Life Share identifies and engages a key leader from an existing high-level sponsor organization in each of the major population settings, which make up the New York-Penn Region. This volunteer community leader is then asked to collaborate with key leaders in other organizations to ultimately motivate their community blood donors.
How it works:
- A high-profile volunteer community leader is recruited in a metropolitan county to serve for 2 or more years as the Leadership for Life Share Chair in that county.
- They are asked to recruit 5 to 10 other key community leaders who will serve as Council Market Chairs.
- Each Council Member will be assigned specific, measurable goals.
- In each case, the Life Share Chair and the Market Chairs are asked to support successful blood drive campaigns at their organization and to be our "advocate" by asking other key sponsors to "step up" and do their "fair share".

Life Share Recognition
Life Share provides you the opportunity for community involvement and recognition when you achieve Platinum, Gold or Silver status as a Life Share sponsor with the Red Cross based on your participation rate.
All sponsors are categorized by market type: Business, Hospital, High School, College, or Community. To achieve your ideal (or "standard") level of participation, we recommend that you host a certain number of blood drives per year, however you and your Red Cross Account Manager will set the best strategy to achieve your annual goal.

Example:
High School Population = 100 Students
Drives per year = 2
Pints of Blood Collected per Operation = 20 Pints
Total Pints of Blood Collected = 40 Pints
Participation Rate = 40/100 = .4 = Participation Rate of 40% (Above Platinum Level)
